"The 2006 Pinot Nero PN 497 is an intriguing wine. Sweet red cherries, licorice, tar, leather and spices are woven together in a delicate, finely-knit fabric. The wine possesses gorgeous inner perfume and plenty of varietal character on a firm, distinctly Piedmontese frame, with a finish that is pure, long and beautifully articulated. Although I am not a huge fan of international grapes in Piedmont, I can’t think of a better Pinot in the region, and this is certainly one of the finest versions in all of Italy. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2021. 92 points.
