Antoine Jobard Meursault En La Barre 2013

Antoine Jobard Meursault En La Barre 2013

Availability: Out of stock

"Tasting note

Here too there is a hint of green apple to the overtly citrus-infused aromas that display a pretty floral top note. There is fine underlying tension to the delicious, mouth coating and opulent medium-bodied flavors that possess a caressing mouth feel, all wrapped in a balanced and lingering finish. This too should drink well young.

There is approximately 30 mm of soil mixed with a heavy proportion of rock sitting above a bed of fractured stone

Producer note

Antoine Jobard described 2013 as a vintage that "resembled in many respects that which we endured in 2012 with the exception that we had much less hail damage though this is not to say none. For example in our parcels of Bourgogne and Clos de la Barre we had losses that ranged between 40 and 50%. Again like 2012 we had issues with mildew and oidium so you had to be in your vineyards constantly. At the same time the very conditions that contributed to these problems made it difficult to enter into the vines, particularly those on the slopes because of the mud. We picked between the 26th of September and the 3rd of October, which means that we just missed the huge downpours that occurred on the 5th and 6th. The crop was for the most part pretty clean but one of the unwelcome surprises is that we appeared to have reasonably good yields but when we started pressing we obtained even less must than we did in 2012. Still, despite all of this the wines have turned out better than we had hoped. They possess good power yet they're elegant and in particular one of the aspects that I like best is that they are ultra-fresh and refreshing. They should age well yet thanks to their natural concentration they will be approachable young if that's what clients prefer."

Drink: 2019+. 87-90 points"
