"The 2014 Etna Rosso Serra della Contessa (made with 90% Nerello Mascalese and 10% Nerello Cappuccio) comes from a vineyard on the east side of the volcano located 500 meters above sea level. The vines are more than 100 years old and planted on their original root stock. Some 7,000 bottles were made. This wine is distinguished by the elegance of its aromas. Wild cherry, cranberry, lilac and pressed violets emerge from the bouquet. The wine also shows a strong volcanic identity with crush stone and smoke. Drink: 2018-2033. 93 points

This year, Benanti added a new wine to its portfolio called Etna Rosso Contrada Monte Serra. This wine marks the first release in a new single-contrada line of wines to be called the "linea contrade." This line of new products will be further enhanced from 2019 to 2021 to include a Carricante white wine from the Contrada Cavaliere and a Nerello Mascalese red from the same site. These two new wines (with 6,000 bottles of each) will be unveiled in 2019."
