David Duband Chambertin Grand Cru 2012

David Duband Chambertin Grand Cru 2012

Availability: Out of stock

"Not surprisingly the 2012 Chambertin is the deepest and richest of the Duband Chambertins. A huge core of fruit runs through the wine. Broad, ample and creamy on the palate, the 2012 impresses for its breadth and hugely inviting personality. Violets, spices and saline notes invigorate the finish. There is plenty of class and elegance here. Drinking window: 2022-2037. 93-95 points

David Duband's 2012s are fabulous. The wines are distinguished by their energy, tension and and pure salinity. Duband describes the 2012s as having lower acidities than the 2010s, but not as low as 2009. Yields were 28 hectoliters per hectare, lower than the more typical 38, but far better than at many other domaines. Duband shortened macerations to about 17 days on the skins and sought softer extractions overall. All of the wines were fermented with whole clusters, ranging from 50% for the villages up to 80% for some of the Grand Crus. Bottling is scheduled for February and March 2014."
