"The 2016 Pinot Noir needs a year or two to come out of its shell. Subtle cinnamon and clove notes appear on the nose, along with black cherries and cola shadings. Medium to full-bodied, with a rich, velvety mid-palate, it finishes dry and firm. Drink: 2020-2025. 91 points

This partnership between the Sutherland and Healy families shows no sign of growing old or complacent, except perhaps the graying and thinning hair around the table. The wines are as good as ever—maybe even better, as the vines settle into their productive middle years. Still, Ivan Sutherland said, "The last two [vintages] have been challenging." It's worth noting, however, that because of the lower yields they carry, they were able to pick largely before the rains. In 2018, said Sutherland, "The little botrytis that was there, we dropped out because we hand pick." As a final aside, I should point out that the wines age magnificently, as evidenced by the 2006 Section 94 reviewed this issue. We also tasted the 2011 Chardonnay and 2012 Pinot Noir, which were also in fine condition. As they were very close to where previous reviews put them, I haven't re-reviewed them."
