Carl Loewen Laurentiuslay Riesling Alte Reben Trocken 2019

In Stock

“From Leiwen’s top vineyard with up to 100-year-old-vines on gray slate terraces, the 2019 Laurentiuslay Alte Reben Trocken opens with a deep and refined bouquet of crushed stones, lemon zest and herbs. On the palate, this is a vital, energetic, long and playful Riesling of class and style. The texture is ripe and smooth but structured, with ripe and elegant acidity and sublime yeasty notes. The finish is stimulatingly salty and piquant. An impressive cru. Tasted in April 2020. Drink: 2020-2034. 93 points

Carl Loewen offers another excellent range of Rieslings from partly very old vines. The dry, or dry-styled, crus are my favorites again from the 2019 vintage and belong to the Mosel’s first league with the black labeled Maximin Herrenberg 1896 as primus inter pares. It is a great Mosel Riesling that should be aged for years if not decades.
