“A beguiling blend of crushed stone and dried herbs mixes with lime zest and white peaches as the 2018 La Bora di Kante slowly blossoms in the glass. This wine is pure elegance, nearly oily in feel with a stern mineral core that adds balance, as ripe pit fruits ride a stream of tantalizing acidity. Seamless in feel, it finishes long yet remarkably fresh, leaving perfumed inner florals and a subtle candied citrus tinge. The 2018 La Bora di Kante, the current vintage, is a joy to taste. Drinking window: 2025-2034. 94 points

I was very pleased to taste the new releases from Edi Kante. First off, the La Bora di Kante, a varietal Chardonnay, has no right being this good in a year as challenging as 2018. It’s important to note that the Edi Kante has veered away from using skin contact with their white wines and now focuses on pure, mineral-intense expressions. This is the only producer in Carso making such a successful lineup of wines in this style. That purity is on display in the 2022 Malvasia. Also, don’t sleep on Kante’s Metodo Classico wines, both bottled with zero dosage. The Chardonnay and Malvasia blend could give some entry-level Champagnes a run for their money.”
