“This is a gorgeous set of wines from Sergio Germano, but that is not terribly surprising based on the wines I tasted from cask during my last visit. The 2016s saw a total of 40-50 days on the skins between fermentation and maceration. Aging generally takes place in medium-format oak. The one exception is the new Barolo Vignarionda, which is fermented with whole clusters. It sees two years in medium-format oak, but spends an additional year in bottle prior to being released. Lastly, Germano fans will note a restyling of the labels, which are now drawn by Sergio Germano’s wife, Elena.”
