Marie-Courtin Extra Brut Concordance 2017

In Stock

“The 2017 Extra-Brut Concordance delivers gently high-toned aromas of apple, warm biscuits and white flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, taut and racy palate animated by acids and concluding with a saline finish. Drink: 2023-2026. 90 points

Who was Marie Courtin? She was proprietor Dominique Moreau’s grandmother, a woman who lived through phylloxera, World War One and the reconstruction of viticulture in its aftermath, and this small domaine in Polisot is named after her, in an homage to that long-suffering generation. Moreau farms only 2.5 hectares, in a single block predominantly planted with massal selection Pinot Noir, and has been certified organic since 2005 and farmed biodynamically since 2009. Working without dosage and with minimal or indeed any sulfites, at their best, these are characterful, chiseled wines that offer an unfiltered expression of their Kimmeridgian bedrock, and while I have sometimes found them inconsistent, these latest releases all come warmly recommended.”
