“The 2019 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Eloquence, 100% Chardonnay, is a total stunner. It captures proprietor Dominique Moreau at her most refined. Citrus confit, tangerine oil and tropical inflections all race out of the glass. The ripe style of the year is very much in evidence, and yet all the elements are so well balanced. Proprietor Dominique Moreau has come a long way since I first tasted these wines years ago. One of the things I admire most about these Champagnes is their singular character. The style here is all about minimalism, from biodynamic farming to vinification in neutral oak. All the Champagnes are bottled with no dosage. The wines used to be austere, but today they are remarkably precise. The no-SO2 Champagnes require an especially adventurous palate, as they can be a bit quirky. Readers who want to explore these Champagnes for the first time should start with some of the other wines in the range.”
