Pago de los Capellanes Reserva 2019

In Stock

“The 2019 Reserva comes from old vines in Pedrosa del Duero in Ribera del Duero and was aged up to 19 months in French oak barrels. Garnet-red in hue. The aromas range widely, from strawberry to plum, along with balsamic hints of herbs and jam. Plush and creamy, the robust but fine tannins support a structured, surprisingly nimble mouthfeel with good depth and energy. The Reserva is a long-lasting, ripe Ribera red. Drinking window: 2025-2035. 93 points

Established in 1996 by Paco and Conchita Villa in Pedrosa de Duero, Pago de los Campellanes, named after the family vineyard, expanded to 120 hectares through the purchase of another property in Fuentenebro. Today, the couple’s daughter Estefanía Rodero Villa, manages the winery, producing a modern take on Ribera Tempranillo. The single parcel wines, such as El Picón (the first vintage was 2018), have a more classical, structured character. Built in a modernist architectural style, the winery is open to visitors. In 2014, the family acquired another property in Valdeorras, Galicia, where they bottle Luar do Sil Godello under the same label.”
