Telmo Rodriguez Pegaso Granito 2020

In Stock

“The sensation of ripeness in the 2020 Pegaso Granito was a little higher than the Pizarra version, despite having a little less alcohol (14.5%), a fascinating comparison every year. The grapes were fully destemmed (in past years, there was always a percentage of full clusters) and matured in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels for 18 months. The grapes from the granite are always harvested one week later, and still the alcohol is a little lower. It’s very tasty and fine-grained. The style of the wine is somewhere between the 2018 and 2019. 4,505 bottles were filled in May 2022. Drink: 2023-2029. 95 points

Telmo Rodríguez has a project in Gredos, and I tasted mostly 2020s with winemakers Marc Isart and vineyard manager Aitor Fernández. They compare 2020 with 2016 and 2021 to fresher wines like 2018, but with the effect of the frost from late April, and the wines have less color than the 2020s and 2022s.
