  • Aldo Conterno Nebbiolo Langhe Il Favot 2017

    £47.99

“The Poderi Aldo Conterno 2017 Langhe Nebbiolo Il Favot delivers dark fruit intensity with cherry, blackberry and plum. This entry-level wine throws a lot of fruit out there, all delivered in a rather random and haphazard manner. This is a fun and informal Nebbiolo to pair with grilled meats or simple pasta dishes. Some 10,000 bottles were made. Drink: 2020-2024. 88 points”

  • Ettore Germano Langhe Riesling Herzu 2019

    £26.99

“Closed in a screw-cap bottle, the 2019 Langhe Riesling Hérzu reveals an enormously citrusy bouquet, with passion fruit, white peach and honey. Varietal tones of white licorice and dried ginger make faint appearances, and there are vague hints of the petrol and spice that usually follow when Riesling takes on even just a little more age. This wine shows precision and focus. Some 27,000 bottles comprise this above-average Riesling, so keep an eye out for it. Drink: 2021-2025. 91 points

Ettore Germano has taken ambitious leaps and bounds toward greater quality and consistency in this impressive group of new releases.”

  • G.D. Vajra Langhe Riesling Pietracine 2020

    £31.99

“Crystalline and luminous, both in appearance and personality, the G.D. Vajra 2020 Langhe Riesling Pétracine opens to light tones of honey, orchard fruit and soft tropical tones. At this young stage, the wine expresses its primary fruit best, although we can expect the bouquet to take all those fascinating aromatic twists and turns that only this grape can deliver. Riesling cultivated in Piedmont is a niche market for sure, but there are ample signs of its growing popularity. Production is 6,000 bottles. Drink: 2022-2026. 90 points”

  • La Spinetta Langhe Bianco 2017

    £37.49

“The La Spinetta 2017 Langhe Bianco is a pure expression of Sauvignon Blanc that sees some aging in botte grande. Fruit is sourced from various sites in Mango, Castagnole Lanze and Treiso, so a wide net is cast to complete the blend. This wine opens to a luminous golden color with aromas of tangerine skin, candied orange peel, peach and toasted almond. Some of those distinctive varietal tones of mango, tomato leaf and dried basil also come through on the wine’s mid-weight frame. Some 3,500 bottles were released. Drink: 2020-2024. 91 points”

  • Roagna Solea 2017

    £61.95

“Roagna’s 2017 Solea is a blend of Chardonnay and Nebbiolo vinified off the skins. Pliant and supple, with terrific depth, the Solea is dominated by varietal Chardonnay notes of tropical fruit, vanillin and butter. More than that, though, the 2017 is impeccably balanced and flat-out delicious. Even though the Nebbiolo portion is done without skin contact, the wine has a good deal of grip. The only problem is that the Roagna Timorasso is even better! Drinking window: 2019-2024. 92 points”
