Tenuta di Trinoro 2014

Tenuta di Trinoro 2014

Availability: Out of stock

"Andrea Franchetti's 2014 Tenuta di Trinoro represents the vintner's definitive shift to a more elegant and focused style of winemaking. This wine was once celebrated for its super ripe aromas and sweet, jammy flavors. But this cool vintage hammers home a new approach that sees less bulk and density—something Franchetti has been enthusiastically embracing over the past five years or so. The results are stratospheric. The Tenuta di Trinoro property sees pretty high average temperatures in summer. The quality of fruit offers special grace and elegance in cool years like this. Among the many samples I have tasted across Tuscany from the 2014 vintage, Tenuta di Trinoro is a memorable wine and a landmark achievement. Drink: 2017-2035. 94+ points

Andrea Franchetti has created a timeless set of wines from his Tenuta di Trinoro estate. In addition to the wines you see reviewed here, I had the opportunity to re-taste the three fascinating single-vineyard expressions of Cabernet Franc that represent a new wave at Tenuta di Trinoto. These are the 2014 Campo di Camagi (95 points), 2014 Campo di Magnacosta (91 points) and the 2014 Campo di Tenaglia (93 points). I'd give the same scores to the wines today, but I would be more generous to the 2014 Campo di Tenaglia that has fleshed out thanks to that extra year in the bottle. That wine merits a solid score of 92 points. Because I reviewed these wines one year ago, I didn't want to create confusion by publishing a duplicate set of scores."
