“This finely crafted 2019 Syrah Genesis is quite beautiful and enthralling with its cherry liqueur, dried flower and peppery spice aromas, along with a dusting of shaved jamon. Flavors swerve more toward black olive, earth and roasted spices, with wafts of cranberry and cherry never far away. A backbone of perky acidity and plush tannins illustrates a mid-term proposition. Drinking window: 2026-2033. 93 points”

“The delightfully pitched 2022 Viognier lngenue is vibrant and enticing with musky, just-ripe apricot, peach skin and honeysuckle aromas. Refinement rather than sheer power is the key here. Creamy tetures and a gentle phenolic bite make for a seamless experience in a more ethereal style. Oak and fruit are beautifully balanced. Unforced and delightful, the 2022 will age well. Drinking window: 2024-2032. 95 points”

“The 2023 Shiraz Viognier leads with wet garden rose, sage, apricot, raspberry, pomegranate and blueberry. The wine is bloody, mineral, very fine and with a honed, wet stone feeling to the tannins. I’ve tasted Pinot today with bigger, more loose-weave tannins than this superb beauty of a thing. This takes svelte to a whole new level. Once again, this is highly recommended. It’s one of my favorite Shirazes from this great country. It is made with 6% co-fermented Viognier. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink: 2024-2043. 97 points“

“The 2024 Chardonnay is powerful yet refined, slowly opening with aromas of grapefruit and nectarine, a strong flinty edge and well-integrated French oak. Fresh, chalky acidity provides an impactful start that continues in a sustained fashion through to a lengthy finish. Young and tight, but sure to flower beautifully over the next decade. Drinking window: 2028-2037. 95 points
Decades Wines is a collaboration between former Giant Steps winemaker Steve Flamsteed and Brad Rogers, focusing on a north-facing vineyard planted in 1990 in Coal River Valley. The quality of this site is clear, as this is only the second vintage, and the wines are exceptional. Flamsteed and Rogers have big aspirations: significant new plantings are now in place with a wide range of clones, showcasing Flamsteed’s experimental approach to viticulture and winemaking.”

“The 2024 Pinot Noir is complex and highly engaging yet understated, with aromas of undergrowth, dark cherry and spice bazaar with a sappy whole-bunch edge. Fleshy, sweet cherry flavours with riper licorice tones are underpinned by an attractive underlying tension that supports a lingering, velvety finish. Drinking window: 2028-2034. 93 points

“The 2025 Julius Riesling leads with an ultra pretty nose of pressed flowers, crushed quartz, white beach sand and loads of fruit that firmly places on the white end of the spectrum. In the mouth, the wine is tight and saline, with sleek, closed phenolics and persistent acidity through the long finish. This is a great wine in almost any season, which come as a surprise to no one who follows the viticultural philosophy of Pru Henschke. 11.7% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink: 2025-2040. 95 points”

“The 2016 Methode Traditionelle Grand Vintage is softer and more marine-based in its characters than my memory of the 2015 would dictate. Here, the wine exhibits the same creamy, plump mousse and ultra-fine bead that we have come to expect, yet it is more savory and salty. There are saline notes alongside citrus pith and cracked fennel, toasted brioche and white mushrooms. The wine spent six years en tirage and was bottled with very low dosage, around three to four grams per liter. 13% alcohol. Drink: 2025-2036. 94 points”
